Nancy Smeltzer

Trained in culinary arts, Nancy Smeltzer feels that many of her pieces are meant to be utilized in the everyday rituals of eating and drinking.  Birds, plants and animals that live around the Smicksburg community are often reflected on her pottery.  She has been apart of a great number of shows, exhibits and workshops. Nancy tells us, "My work is thrown, altered and decorated with images of birds and the natural world.  I continue to be fascinated with the way the fire, ash and salt lend their finishing touches to embellish these pots."
