Carroll G. Klingensmith


Carroll McCormick Klingensmith was born and raised in Leechburg, PA. She is a graduate of Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing, Pittsburgh, PA. Carroll and her husband reside in Ford City and Bradenton, FL. Through her lifetime, the beauty of nature and the wonder of all creation have enchanted Carroll. She has used a variety of mediums to express herself such as stained glass, oils, watercolors, and fabric arts. Carroll fell in love with watercolors and the vibrancy of their colors, which has been her focus over the last 16 years. Carroll has been recognized with honors such as the Artist Award, New Growth Art Festival, Indiana, PA and many awards in Western Pennsylvania. 


Carroll paints her watercolor pieces almost as if she's using an acrylic medium; she uses saturated colors to paint thin, precise lines. Her backgrounds usually involve a blending of several colors, which watercolor allows for beautifully.

Hello All!

We have some exciting things happening in the gallery this month!

Our music acts, held every Friday from 6pm until 8pm, will include:

Our Make and Take Classes, held on Saturdays, will be scheduled as follows: 

•     March 2 - Fibers

•     March 16 - Clay

The Indiana Art Association will hold its classes on the following Sundays in March: 

• March 3, 2-4pm - Life Studies class
• March 10, 1:30-4:30pm - Comics class
• March 17, 2-4pm  - Life Studies class
• March 24, 1:30-4:30pm - Comics class

ICAAP will be holding its Soupbowl from 11am until 2pm on Tuesday March 5. Cindy Kordell will be the musical entertainment!

Betty Hedman will be conducting an adult clay workshop on March 13&14, and March 20&21 from 6 until 8pm. Students will explore several handbuilding techniques.

There will be a public bicycle meeting held on Wednesday, March 6 from 6 until 8:30pm.

Jolene Joyner

Jolene is an oil/pastel painter, who has lived in Indiana County most of her life. She currently lives in Clymer, PA and has her studio located inside her home. She works from photographs that have been taken locally and from travels to France and Italy. Her artwork is representational because she enjoys the challenge. 



In this oil painting, Jolene uses a blending technique that leaves very smooth and subtle edges on her figures. The highly saturated colors bring life to the painting. Instead of merely painting objects, she makes the paint form into figures.

Bill Perry

"As far back as I can remember, I was interested in drawing and making things with my hands. In high school, I received a scholarship to study painting at THE ARTISTS LEAGUE OF LIGONIER VALLEY in Rector, PA. I earned a B.S. in Art Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and continued to paint, mostly in oils, throughout my undergraduate days. My first teaching assignment was in Aliquippa, and I loved it. I had so much more freedom than my colleagues in deciding my curriculum, and as a result, teaching was always challenging and exciting. In 1998, I retired from public school teaching, and once again turned my attention to watercolors. Painting is, for me, an ongoing process. I have conducted workshops recently with the Indiana Arts Association. Currently, I am conducting a series of workshops with the Tarentum Art Association."

Perry uses a very imaginative palette, which makes his work easily recognizable. When viewing his pieces up close, you can easily distinguish the various individual patches of color that together make up whole, familiar objects. The way Perry illustrates the light peeking out from behind the trees in both of these pieces not only softens up the saturated use of color, but also gives off a sense of tranquility.

Ben Valasek now booked to play at the gallery!


Due to circumstances beyond our control, our original music act had to cancel for Friday, February 15, 2013.


-Good news though! Ben Valasek will now be performing music from his new album, "Under the Peach Tree", instead! His style is all his own and incorporates jazz, blues, pop, folk, and rock.

Greg Langham

Educated at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Greg's work resides in many private collections throughout the United States. Professionally, Langham was employed by the Penns Manor School District as the High School Art teacher; a position from which he retired in 2008 to return to his personal art work. His work may be described as a mixture of realism and fantasy, with periodic excursions into the abstract. 

Langham uses precise, thin brushstrokes in his paintings which allow for very detailed work. He uses layers of paint to create texture and complimentary colors to make the colors come alive in this landscape of the Grand Canyon.

The way he outlines his subjects in this piece make the figures stand out from the background. He draws attention to the faces of the pedestrians by focusing the lighting on them; they give off a feeling of warmth. He uses color as a reflection of the surrounding objects.
